Coach Susan:
I started my CrossFit journey at Building Your Temple in late 2013.  I was an ultra marathon runner, having run 100 races of marathon distance and further, I was looking to try something in addition to my running. Enter CrossFit, one wod and I was hooked.
Becoming a CrossFit L1 Trainer was the furthest thing from my mind when I started, but I naturally fell into it. I strive to be a positive role model by continually adding to my knowledge base, by offering my athletes a safe environment knowing they can talk to me about anything, by pushing them farther physically than they thought they could go - while remaining encouraging and motivational, and by truly being proud of each one of them.  My coaching motto is to help athletes become a healthier fitter version of themselves through exercise and proper nutrition.
On the other hand, becoming a CrossFit Kids Trainer was a well thought out decision. My objective is to teach the value of fitness at an early age. It is also important to make sure kids find fitness fun. If children enjoy being active, and see the benefits in how they feel, then they are more likely to keep fitness a priority throughout their lives. Eating healthy becomes a natural and normal choice and being active becomes something they enjoy doing.
I have several key personal goals.  One of which is to continue my education to better my coaching abilities by attending fitness and nutrition classes, and to become certified in fascial movement taping. As a mother of two grown children, I believe I have been a good role model, and I plan on being that role model to their children someday. My CrossFit goals are never ending as I continually work toward improving my form and strength so I can work faster, harder, and stronger.
